The Winter Solstice in Ancient Egypt

Hello everyone,

I found this article today (although the article was written earlier). Tomb aligned with winter solstice sunrise excavated in Egypt | Live Science

There was a recent discovery in Egypt. The oldest discovered tomb oriented towards the sun rise during the winter solstice. Until recently, I hadn’t known that the solstice was significant to the Ancient Egyptians, so I find this interesting. It does fit in with their usual appreciation of rebirth, new beginnings and the daily cycle of the sun.

I look forward to the increase in daylight and the celebration of a new year.

Happy Winter Solstice! Ankh Wedja Seneb!
